Redmi Note 9 Review

Hello friends welcome to Technomaxlover. Today i am going to deliver Redmi note 9 Review.
The Redmi Note 9 starts at Rs 11,999 in India and is much higher than the Redmi Note 8, which the company put in under Rs 10,000. However, the recent GST was increased and the price increased due to the depreciation of the rupee.

Xiaomi made a big splash in the Indian market earlier this year with the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. Both these smartphones had affordable specifications at competitive prices, . Due to fluctuations of dollars and increase in GST rate, the price of these two smartphones has increased. It comes with much bigger changes than the Redmi Note 8, but should it get the title of Money for Value? Let's start Redmi note 9 Review...

Redmi Note 9: Design

Redmi Note 9 comes with the company's Aura design. It looks like the other siblings in its series, but unlike them, the Redmi Note 9 does not have a side-mounted button. Instead, it has a conventional backing sensor. Redmi Note 9 has a large display and hence it is not as easy to use this phone with one hand. Yes, although the power and power buttons fit in the right place, it is not difficult to reach them. Like most Redmi phones, an IR emitter is also found in the Note 9.

The Redmi Note 9 has a thickness of 8.9 millimeters and weighs 199 grams. It is heavier than some other smartphones in this quality range. Xiaomi says that it has used P2i coating on the device with rubber seals on the port to provide some protection against exposure to the liquid. Xiaomi has also provided a 22.5 watt charger in the box (although currently charging support is limited to 18 watts - we will discuss this further).

Redmi Note 9: specification and software

Redmi Note 9 is the most base model of its series, so Xiaomi has chosen the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset for this model. It is an octa-core processor, with two Cortex-A75 cores set at 2 GHz clock speed and six Cortex-A55 cores set at 1.8 GHz speeds. For graphics, it gets the Setromi Mali-G52 GPU at 1 GHz.

The Redmi Note 9 offers a 6.53-inch display with full-HD + resolution (1080x2340 pixels) and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. There are three variants of Redmi Note 9: 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage and 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage. These variants are priced at Rs 11,999, Rs 13,499 and Rs 14,999 respectively. We had the top model for review.

Redmi Note 9 comes with a dedicated microSD card slot. It comes with two-SIM slots and supports full 4G and VoLTE. There are Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and four Bluetooth navigation systems. The battery capacity is 5,020mAh. The Redmi Note 9 is also capable of 9 Watt reverse charging via USB Type-C port.

In terms of software, nothing much is new. The Redmi Note 9 is based on the brand 10 MIUI 11 and our unit had a June safety tab. The phone comes with several pre-installed applications, comes with the volume, and also suggests downloading some other applications during NCR. It also shows advertisements on the lock cap. While this is an option that is enabled by default, it was turned off when we set up the phone.

We also get spammy notifications from some applications already installed in it. These Mi Video and Get apps were at the forefront and of course all these things make your experience a little endless.

Redmi Note 9: Performance

The performance of the Redmi Note 9 gave us no reason to complain. The MediaTek Helio G85 chipset is a capable processor and can handle our daily tasks easily. The app loading time was decent, and with 6 GB of RAM, we can easily switch between different apps easily.

We also liked the display of Redmi Note 9. It has good viewing angles and when required it becomes quite bright. You also get options to change the color item. However, it is not the same as the Amoled display included on the Samsung Galaxy M21. Its rear map sensor was also fast. Also the FAQ was accurate and bouncy.

Games like Redmi Note 9 PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends have gone without problems. In the PUBG Mobile, the phone game was purchased by default in the medium settings, but it became possible for us at high settings without too much degradation in performance. However, after playing for 20 minutes, the touch of the phone started to feel hot. In addition, the battery dropped by 10 percent. The S9 went comfortably on the default settings, and we saw a light lag on only a few tracks.

I liked the battery life of the Redmi Note 9 quite well. It can last a day and a half in a charge. Even if you are a heavy user, a 5,020mAh battery can last you more than a day. It managed to run for 15 hours, 45 minutes in our HD video loop test.

After the launch of Redmi Note 9, there were some controversies regarding the wattage of the charger included in it. The 22.5 W charger is available in the Redmi Note 9 box, but the device is set at 18 W. This means that even if the charger is of more watt, the phone will be charged with a maximum of 18 watt input.

Xiaomi told Gadgets 360 that Redmi Note 9 currently has a "software lock" installed. It still has to undergo some lab and field tests to charge in more power, which was not possible due to the lockdown. Xiaomi says that the company plans to release a software update in the future, which will allow the Redmi Note 9 to be charged at 22.5 watts.

Currently, the phone charges 29 percent in 30 minutes and 60 percent in an hour. It takes more than two hours for the device to fully charged. If Xiaomi unlocked full charging speed, it should take a little less time to charge.

Redmi Note 9: cameras

The Redmi Note 9 features a quad-camera setup, offering a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, it has a 13-megapixel camera at the front. The camera app is largely similar to other Redmi phones.

Apart from the normal shooting mode, the app also has a Pro mode for photos as well as videos, which lets you control from exposure to ISO, etc. on your own. It also has a document mode that allows you to crop photos and convert them to black and white.

Redmi Note 9 uses AI, which detects the external scene and sets the camera accordingly. In broad daylight, the phone takes good shots. However, AI makes the photo too sharp. Pictures taken at full 48-megapixel resolution showed better detail and were not as sharp. There was a slight drop in quality in photos taken with a wide-angle camera.

Talking about close-ups, AI would identify the subject quickly, but sometimes had problems with focus. Although the photos were good and they also had a natural blur effect. There is a pro color option, which increases the contrast in the output. The macro camera lets you get very close to the subject and takes a good picture in favorable light.

Portrait mode managed to separate the subject and background. Age detection was also very good. I couldn't find a way to set the level of blur before taking the shot, but the device did give me the option to change the level of beautification.

In low light, the outputs were decent, but when zoomed in, donations started appearing. The camera app managed to keep the noise (donations) low. In night mode, the camera takes more time to take pictures and for good pictures you have to remain very stable for that long. Even after this, there was not much difference in the output.

The selfie taken in daylight was good and they had good detail. You can also take portrait shots in a selfie camera, but here we did not get the option to set the level of blur. The Redmi Note 9 did a good job of identifying the edges here. However, the quality fell in low light.

Verdict

The Redmi Note 9 starts at Rs 11,999 in India and is much higher than the Redmi Note 8, which the company had placed under Rs 10,000. However, the recent GST hike and the weakening of the rupee definitely led to the price hike. The base variant of the Redmi Note 9 gives good value with its full-HD + display, powerful MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and 4GB RAM. It gives good battery life thanks to a large battery of 5,020 mAh.

However, the variant we reviewed was the top-end variant. At Rs 14,999, this variant competes with some powerful phones in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment, such as Realme 6 (Review), Poco M2 Pro (Review) and even Redmi Note 9 Pro (Review). These models come equipped with better performance and better features than the Redmi Note 9, which makes it difficult to recommend this variant.
