There is no doubt that the Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has captured the Indian budget smartphone segment. With its Redmi and Redmi Note series handsets, Xiaomi has managed to win the heart of the Indian smartphone user. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Review) has  the best selling smartphone in India. Due to the success of Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi became the top smartphone company in India, beating Samsung and other companies.

Nearly 1 year after the launch of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, the company has now launched a new model to take its place in the Indian market. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus was first introduced in China. It has named as Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in India. So lets start Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Review.

Is redmi Note 5 full HD?

Redmi Note 5 is the first handset of the Xiaomi series to come with 18: 9 display. On seeing the Note 5, your eye first stops on its screen. The front is completely lost in the 5.99-inch display. Edges are curved, like the Google Pixel 2 XL. The screen is of full-HD resolution. The pixel density is 403 pixels per inch.

The protection of 2.5D Curved Gorilla Glass 3 is available for protection. The longer display means the borders have become thinner in the edge. But the edges on the upper and lower sides are slightly wider. The metallic earpiece and the diffused LED flash on the top have replaced the selfie camera on the top. The lower bezel is kept empty.

The phone has become longer and thinner because of the new aspect ratio. The weight is 180 grams and with the help of excellent grip it comes easily in the hand. There are power and volume buttons on the right side of the phone. Hybrid Dual SIM is on the left side.

The hand is easily reached by the power button, but to reach the volume button, a little effort is required. Micro USB ports are provided in the phone. By the way, we wanted USB Type-C port. IR emitter is given in the top. For home appliances, this phone will act as a remote control.

The design of the back of the phone is the same as the Redmi Note 4. In the middle of the rear panel are the camera, dual tone LED flash and fingerprint scanner. The phone is thinner than the Redmi Note 4 but due to the bulge of the camera, it remains like a rock on the flat spot. It will  available in Gold, Black, Rose Gold and Blue colors. Specifications and software

In terms of specification, the new handset has not changed much compared to the old phone. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 also has Snapdragon 625 processor. The highest clock speed of this octa-core processor is 2.0 GHz. It has Adreno 506 GPU for graphics. This time the company has discharged 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage variants which were part of the Note 4 family. In the new Redmi Note 5, the user has the option to choose from 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage.

Is redmi 5 a 4g phone?

The handset has a 12-megapixel primary camera. It is equipped with F / 2.2 aperture and PDAF. If seen, the resolution is lower than the Note 4's 13 megapixel camera. However, Xiaomi says that due to larger pixels, it will  able to take better pictures than the previous version. The phone has a hybrid dual sim tray. You will  able to use a microSD card up to 128 GB with two nano SIMs or one nano SIM at a time. It has Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, USB-OTG and FM radio.It support both 3G and 4G.

Xiaomi has given a 4,000 mAh battery to power the Note 5 handset, while the old Note 4 has a 4,100 mAh battery. The battery cannot  removed. It supports quick charging technology. However, the charger given in the phone's retail box is not designed for this purpose.

Redmi Note 5 runs on MIUI 9 with Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Xiaomi's custom ROM is quite different from stock Android. It may take some time for new users to get used to it. Changes have  made to the settings menu. We often used search. The MIUI has support for dual apps. You will  able to protect your data with the help of second space. You have gestures with which screenshots can  taken and apps can  launched.

In the phone, you will find many apps from Google and Microsoft pre-installed. Apart from this, apps like Xiaomi's Me Store, Me Remot, Me File Manager and Me Video are also part of the phone. Amazon, Hungama and WPS Office apps are also pre-installed. Except Google and Xiaomi's app, the rest of the app can  removed.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 performance, camera and battery

The Redmi Note 4 was an excellent all-round handset. Very few handsets were able to challenge it. The company has also done something similar with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. In terms of price, the Redmi Note 5 comes with powerful hardware. MIUI 9 is smooth to use and controls the processor load time. Some basic apps open very quickly and powerful apps also do not take much time. We reviewed 4 GB RAM variants, which is sufficient for multi-tasking. In the benchmark test, the phone's performance was the same as Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

We can also say that the handset is also excellent as a media player. The phone played all kinds of video and audio files. Viewing angles are good. The loudspeaker is also fast. Keep in mind that while holding the phone, your hand does not come on the loudspeaker.

How long does redmi Note 5 battery last?

The Note 5 battery impressed us a lot. Despite the larger screen and lower battery capacity compared to the older version, the handset ran for 16 hours and 8 minutes in our video loop test. In normal use, it will  able to support the user throughout the day.

The sensor in the Redmi Note 5 may have  upgraded, but the camera software is of the older version. It automatically goes into auto mode when the camera is turned on. You can also put it in manual, beauty and panorama modes. In manual mode, only options for changing white balance and ISO settings are given.

Photos taken during the daytime and in low light from the Redmi Note 5 were good. There was no lack of detail in the landscape shot taken in daylight. Exposure was also correct on most occasions. The camera focuses fast. This is helpful for macros shot. Macros shots came out much better than we expected. After turning on HDR mode, the dark parts in the pictures taken came with more detail. But the illuminated parts burnt out.

The camera automatically goes into night mode in low light. Noise was less in the landscape shot. The Redmi Note 5 performed well even when taking photographs from a certain distance. Macros shot requires steady hands, but the output is appreciable.

Diffused selfie flash is given in Redmi Note 5, which is helpful in low light. The app also has beauty mode, which automatically edits the shot. Selfies are a bit granny, but are worth using on social media. It is possible to record the highest 4K resolution video from the rear camera, while the front camera has 1080 pixel resolution. Stabilization mode is not provided, given the price, it is not a disappointment.

Xiaomi has done a lot of new experiments with its Redmi Note series. Where Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Review) came with strong hardware in its segment.
