Motorola has launched many new smartphones in the Indian market in the recent past and the Motorola One Macro is one of best from them. Recall that the Motorola One Series was introduced in India earlier this year. The company has first launched Motorola One Power (Review), Motorola One Vision (Review) and then Motorola One Action under this series.

What is the price of Motorola one macro?

All these other models are part of Google's Android One program and are guaranteed to receive major Android OS updates and security updates regularly. However, the Motorola One Macro is not an Android One smartphone. The important feature of this smartphone in the budget of less than Rs 10,000 is the macro camera sensor given in the handset. Is the Motorola One Macro a good smartphone? To know this, we have tested it, let's know ...

Motorola One Macro design

Does Motorola macro one have Gorilla Glass?

The design of the Motorola One Macro is similar to the recently launched Motorola One Vision and Motorola One Action. However, it does not come with a display with 21: 9 aspect ratios. The Motorola One Macro has a 6.2-inch HD + (720x1520 pixels) display and 19: 9 aspect ratios. No , the display does not have Corning Gorilla Glass protection

The Motorola One Macro has bezel all around and a border will be found at the bottom. The phone comes with Waterdrop Notch and the selfie camera has got a place in the Nokia. In order to allow the display more space, Motorola has placed the earpiece in the frame. Motorola has placed all the buttons on the right side of the phone.

The power button has a slightly different finish, let us know that there is a hybrid dual-sim tray on the left side of the device. The Motorola One Macro has a 3.5mm headphone jack and secondary microphone at the top and a primary microphone, USB Type-C port and speaker at the bottom of the phone. There are three rear cameras in the back of the Motorola One Macro.

Does Motorola macro have fingerprint?

A sensor has given at the top, tell us that it is a macro sensor and this is the specialty of the phone. Other camera sensors with laser autofocus emitter are placed in the camera module below. There will also be a fingerprint sensor in the back of the phone, which has been placed correctly. The sensor has got a place in Motorola's iconic batting logo on the back panel.

The back panel of this Motorola brand phone is made of glossy plastic, fingerprints fall easily on it. The company has also given a case in the retail box to avoid this problem. We found that the Motorola One Macro was slightly heavier than the Samsung Galaxy M30s (review). Motorola has given a 10 W charger in the retail box.

Motorola One Macro specifications and software

Motorola has given HD + display in One Macro, but the thing to note is that most of the smartphones found around this price segment come with full-HD + display. This panel provides 270 pixels per inch which is not idol. On the Motorola One Macro, the company has used the Octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 processor.

For graphics, it has Mali-G72 GPU with a speed of 900mHz. Motorola One Macro has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, it's possible to extend the storage employing a hybrid SIM slot. The Motorola One Macro has just one color variant, Space Blue. Talking about Motorola One Macro Price in India, its price has been fixed at Rs 9,999.

A battery of 4,000 mAh has been given to bring life to the smartphone. The Motorola One Macro has been claimed to posses a water repellent design. It has received an IPX2 rating. The handset comes with dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2 and 6 navigation system support. Speaking of software, the smartphone runs on stock Android 9 Pie with September security patch.

Surprisingly, the Motorola One Macro isn't a part of the Android One program. Motorola has told Gadgets 360 that the device will get a major OS update, ie Android 10 and security updates for two years. Remember that Android One phone gets software update for 2 years and security update for 3 years.

The UI is the same as stock Android with custom icon packs. You get an app drawer in the handset and a Google Assistant opens after swiping right from the home screen. The device has only a few Google apps installed along with the Moto and Device Help apps.

Motorola has also changed the gesture navigation and you will get Android 10 style navigation. We had no problem navigating and multitasking the device. Android Pie's digital wellbeing feature and parental control are also built-in.

Motorola One Macro's performance and battery life

We first tested the MediaTek Helio P70 processor during the testing of Realme 3 (review). This device has 4 GB RAM so we did not feel that the phone slowed down at all. The phone manages easily during multitasking between multiple apps. The fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature unlock the phone fast.

The viewing angle of the Motorola One Macro is nice. We saw PUBG Mobile playing on the Motorola One Macro, the game was set to Medium Preset and Graphics Balanced and Frame Rate Medium by default. We had no problems while gaming on these settings. After playing for 15 minutes, four percent of the battery was consumed and the phone warmed slightly.

Motorola One is also able to run the macro game at a high frame rate, but doing this, we found the phone a bit hot on the back panel. A 4,000 mAh battery has been provided to bring life to the Motorola One Macro. In our HD video loop test, the smartphone lasted for 17 hours and half hours.

Does Motorola macro support fast charging?

The WhatsApp account was active during use, used Google Maps for navigation for over an hour and played PUBG Mobile, even after that the phone supported the whole day. The charger that comes with the handset charges the phone 28 percent in 30 minutes and 51 percent in an hour. It takes more than two hours for the device to be fully charged.

Motorola One Macro Camera

The back of the Motorola One Macro has a 3 camera setup. At the top is a 2 megapixel macro sensor which is the specialty of this phone, its aperture is F / 2.2. The primary camera is 13 megapixels. Its aperture is F / 2.0. It has a 2 megapixel depth sensor. It has a separate laser autofocus module for faster focus.

The Motorola One Macro has an eight-megapixel front camera with F / 2.2 aperture. The camera app is well designed. Swiping right from the viewfinder reveals all other shooting modes. Apart from Portrait, Panorama, Slow Motion and Timelaps, there are cutouts, spot colors, cinegraph and macro modes. We found this mode very interesting.

Photos taken with the Motorola One Macro were average, and there was a lack of detail when zooming on a large screen to an image of a distance object. During the day, the phone was able to focus sharply and HDR became automatically enabled and it helped in capturing bright scenes accurately. The camera UI suggests that if we are too close to a subject, we should switch to the macro camera.

The macro camera captures only 2 megapixel resolution shots. It is worth noting that macro shots captured more detail than shots taken with the primary camera sensor. Motorola One Macro offers the option to set the level of blur before taking a shot in portrait mode. Details are acceptable given the price.

The low-light camera performance was below average and the phone took a little longer to capture every shot. The landscape shots lacked sharpness and the grain was also seen. The smartphone keeps the noise under control in most circumstances. The selfie pulled from the handset came out good, the detail in selfie taken in low-light was average.

Once again, we found that the camera performance of this phone was slightly weaker than other handsets in this price segment. The primary and selfie camera is capable of recording video at 1080 resolution. The smartphone can also record video using a macro camera.

Our Decision

Motorola has named this smartphone One Macro so that the macro camera in the handset can be highlighted, so let's first talk about it. The macro camera gives good close-up shots. The smartphone comes with clean stock Android, powerful MediaTek Helio P70 processor, RAM and storage.

We want One Macro to also be a part of Google's Android One program so that the handset is guaranteed to get better software and security updates. The phone's camera performance in low-light needs some improvement. Apart from this, we have no complaints from the phone. It is worth noting that Realme 5 is also a good option. And this handset also comes with macro lens and wide-angle camera sensor. Apart from this, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S (Review) is also an option, let us know that this handset of Xiaomi comes with full-HD + display.
